Travel: Traveling is Better with TSA PreCheck
Four years ago, I signed up for a TSA Pre-check membership. Signing up has been one of the best decisions of my life.
With the TSA
Pre-Check membership, I have had less anxiety and a better traveling
experience overall. During the security screening process at the airport, I do not have to wait in long lines, take off
my shoes, or take out my traveling liquids from my carry-on. Almost five years
later, my membership will expire, and I will most definitely renew it.
For those of you
who are unfamiliar with TSA PreCheck, it is an alternative to the regular TSA security screening at the airport. It provides a speedier and
smoother screening for customers, and customers do not have to take off their
shoes, belts, or light jackets, or remove their 3-1-1 liquids or laptops from their
carry-ons. To be eligible for this screening, applicants must be
U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR). Applicants
also cannot have been convicted of certain crimes listed in the eligibility requirements.
The fee for the application is $78 and includes the filling out of a brief
application online and the scheduling of an appointment at any of the 500+
enrollment centers. The appointment at
the enrollment center ranges from 9-12 minutes and includes photo taking and fingerprinting
for a background check. If applicants
are approved, they will then be notified within a specific amount of time and provided
with their Known Traveler Number (KTN), to add to their airline reservation. If
you travel often or just want to have a smoother traveling experience I would recommend
learning more about the process here at https://www.tsa.gov/precheck.
Be Encouraged and Happy
Traveling,
Noelani
