Devotionals: When I am Weak, He is Strong

Habakkuk 3:19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!.

Growing up I used to be so weak. At least I thought I was. It started from the womb when my umbilical cord surrounded my neck in my moms belly . I almost died but God , the doctors and my mother’s strength saved me . God knew it wasn’t my time. Then in Elementary school to Middle School, I got bullied a few times because people saw me as a “ nerd”; meanwhile I was just minding my business . Fast forward to 2016, again while I was minding my own business crossing the street in New York at a crosswalk with the right of way; this big truck hit me sending me three feet in the air. But again , God knew. It wasn’t my time. All of those times the enemy thought I was weak (and wanted to make me weak), God made me strong. Today I’m here to let you know that with God, you are strong too.

In Habakuk 3 in the Bible , the prophet Habakuk asks God to show his mercy during tough times . Wickedness had taken place in the earth; there were droughts and people were oppressed, but after acknowledging the things going on in the world and asking God to remember His mercy, Habakuk remembers and reflects on Gods goodness and how he had saved his people in the past and how He Promised He would do it again .

Habakkuk 3:2
Lord, I have heard of your fame;
    I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
    in our time make them known;
    in wrath remember mercy.

Though the above scripture stuck out to me , Habakuk 3:19 meant so much more . The New International Version says
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,he enables me to tread on the heights

The
Amplified Bible Classic Edition says
19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!.

I can relate to this scripture on so many levels because during times of trouble in my life , God has been my Strength, my personal bravery and my invincible army . In times where I didn’t think I would make it , God proved me to be wrong and in
those same experiences I became stronger and stronger like the deer Habakuk mentions that treads on heights. Each height my legs grow longer and stronger allowing me to make it through . I believe that God will continue to be my strength and believe this same strength is available to you. Pray and trust in Him through every circumstance . He knows all. And like the legs of the deer, you will tread on mountains that you never thought you could.

Be Encouraged,
