Devotionals: To my Ladies who Want and are Waiting for Marriage, Take Heart, there’s Hope.

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

Lately, I’ve been coming across married men . I know that sounds weird and don’t get me wrong ( because I know your judging this as you read), but God has allowed me to meet them for a reason .

Marriage has been on my heart since my early 20’s when my once best friend professed his love and got on his knees in 2015. I had been pressing him about it for over 2 years, until one day  he got on his knees and I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say . “You want to marry me?” I asked . "Why ? When ? Who?",  “I’m gonna be a wife ?”. All of these things crossed my mind as he sat there on bended knee . “ Um, Yes” I said . Lord knows why it didn’t work over time because I took too long to answer . True love is sure, never second guessing. Almost 6 years later , I am waiting and looking more than forward to the man I can give a “ Yes”, that is sure and true . And this is why I think God has allowed me to meet men that exemplify the true form of marriage.

The men that I have met have gained my respect by their character , attitude and the way they carry themselves . I have met some of them through work and my community, and I believe it is for a reason. God has shown me that there are some good men in the world . Men that love ,protect; who are committed, honest and wanting to take care of their families. I look forward to the day when I experience my own.

Marriage is a union, a bond;  that no one can come between . Ephesians chapter 5 gives instructions for households and marriages and tells us how husbands and wives should submit to one another .

Ephesians 5: 25-33 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

I encourage you  to read Ephesians Chapter 5: 21-33 and other Bible scriptures on marriage as this will help us to identify and come into agreement with a marriage in the sight of God .
This post here is to thank and acknowledge the good men who are trying and leading by example, and also to encourage women in their singleness ( even myself), that God is preparing for us someone who is worth the wait .

Be Loved and Be Encouraged,

Noelani
