Editor's Note: Secure Your Heart

Friends and Family,

I'm a "Lover" *waits for aww moment*. I know this sounds cute and sweet and all,  but this "Lover" mentality is also what get's me into trouble and my feelings hurt.  I meet people be it potential friends or mates and fall in love so fast, that when they are inconsistent with their love or do me wrong; I get upset. I know it's my own fault though. "So much for expectations",  my co-worker says.
In a Sonnet titled Sonnet 116: Let me not to the marriage of true minds written by Shakespeare he says "Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds". I found this quote on my cup of tea today and it spoke to my heart. Love is not love when it is inconsistent. Love is not Love if it falters. Love does not butter you up one day and leave you without the fat the next day. Love is steady, consistent, stable. Yes, there will  be challenges, disagreements and disappointments, but at the end of the day, you push through for love.  My heart at times gets frustrated but I have to remember that My Love, may not be for everyone. The same goes for your love too.
Friends may let you down, family may let you down, people may let you down; but it is up to us to secure our hearts. You can be kind and love on others, but don't give all your heart at once and get upset when the feelings aren't reciprocated or if it get's trampled on. Apart of Loving thyself is Securing Your Heart. I am learning this and I hope you will too. Secure your heart and be encouraged.
