Editor's Note: My GG's Favorite Holiday

Valentines Day is my grandma GG's favorite holiday.  Since I was born, I have always known her to be in love with love. She's always loving on the family, others, and people in need; so growing up it made sense to me as to why the day known to celebrate romance and affection,  was and still is, very special to her. It's also her Wedding Anniversary Day.
From youth, I remember being a witness to many of her expressions of love, to immediate and extended family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. She would give someone who was down on the train a positive affirmation, stop a fight outside and tell the two in conflict to stop and spread love instead. Yeah, I've seen it all.
In her house, there are representations of love all around. From clothing hanging up with images of hearts, to glasses, frames, pillows and more. It wasn't a surprise for her to find out that her only granddaughter who she calls "Chocolate" came out with a blog titled "Living, Loving,Encouraging. I  am a "Lover"too , and am also looking forward to this special day.
"Love Day" (which my grandma and family calls it), is everyday; however, the fact that we recognize this celebration of romance and love, why not make it extra special? Whether you are single, dating or it's "complicated" I hope that you make it a time to share and receive some extra love on this special day. Don't know what to do or have any plans ? See some ideas from my GG and I below:
  • Spend some "Me Time"/ Pamper yourself-  Take a bath, make a DIY face-mask, buy your self some chocolate, sip a nice wine, get a free mini facial at a Sephora near you or sample some perfumes, sample some products from LUSH, get under the covers and watch a romantic movie, write a letter to yourself in your journal.
  • Make Valentines Day cards for your children. Help them make and send out cards to their friends and family members (I used to love doing this with my mom).
  • Call someone you haven't spoke to in a while and spread some love. Kakaotalk, Facetime, Skype or Whatsapp them to make it even more special. You never know who's day you can make just by them hearing your voice or seeing you.
  • Volunteer at a Homeless Shelter.
  • Bake a cake, cupcakes, or cookies
  • Write someone a love letter.
  • Treat yourself to a massage. Don't want to spend too much money? Get a pedicure at a nail salon with a massage chair (this normally goes for about $20-$30), and sit back and relax.
  • Get a manicure.
  • Get dressed and take some Selfies.
  • Make a "Love" playlist.
  • Hit the town and have appetizer, dinner or desserts with your friends. Too cold? Have a "Girls Night In".
  • Bring some treats in and share with your office or coworkers.
  • Buy yourself some flowers.
  • Smile at a stranger.
Whatever you do, Just Spread Love! Happy Valentines Day !
