Lifestyle: Snack Attack

For those of you who do not know me, I am a "Snacker". Chips, cookies, brownies, popcorn, anything sweet/savory; you name it, I’ll try it. If it crackles, crunches, or pop; I want it. Morning, noon, night; I’ll have it.  “Snacker” could be my last name.

In a dream world, snacks would be my meal replacement. I would have brownies for breakfast, buttery popcorn for lunch, and chips and cookies for dinner. My cheat day would be every-day, and the food would burn off as I ate.

However; we live in a realistic world. A world where heart disease is real, diabetes runs in my family, and pimples are waiting to come out on my face even while I’m eating.  So with that said friends, I’ve decided I am going to work on my snacking *gulp*. I’m going to replace those unhealthy, processed snacks, with healthier alternatives, and decrease my sugar intake. It will be a journey, but I found a few snacks already which I’ve found a liking too. “Now who’s with me?!”…… *birds chirp*.

Be Encouraged

1. Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars: These delicious delights come in stone ground whole wheat, and gluten Free. They are made from all natural products, and are dairy free, soy free and have no high fructose corn syrup. They are low in sugar at about 7-9 grams per bar, and range in flavors from Raspberry, Strawberry, Apple Cinnamon, Pomegranate, and many more. Mango is my personal favorite. And guess what? There only .99 cents each. Trust me it’s worth it.

2. Skinny Pop: Their belief is “Snacking without Compromise!”  Their popcorn is whole grain, made with sunflower oil, and salt; and is light, airy. This popcorn also has no artificial ingredients, flavors, or preservatives. Flavors come in Sea Salt& Pepper, White Cheddar, Naturally Sweet, Jalapeno, and Dusted Dark Chocolate.

3. Chobani Yogurt: “The number 1 Greek yogurt in America”; this yogurt is non-GMO and made with only natural ingredients, and natural sweeteners. It’s also good for weight loss.

4.  Asian Pears: This pear is crunchy, and filled with water. At 51 calories, and 9 grams of sugar; I feel so full and refreshed after eating. These can be found at your local farmers market or at an Asian Grocery. Please note: Fruit is a great snack, but like other products contain sugar. Eat in moderation or per your daily recommended serving.

5. Turbana Plantain Chips: 30 % less fat than potato chips, and made with only 4 ingredients: Plantains, Vegetable oil, Salt, and Natural flavors.  Small enough to fit in your purse or lunch bag, with flavors in lightly salted, sweet, lime, chili, and garlic.
