Devotionals: Saturday, July 30: The Beginning of A Spirit Led Journey

 Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

For the past 6-8 months, I’ve been praying to God about my purpose in life, and asking that He guide my footsteps. I have also been praying for my health, and asking that He make a way for me to be more healthy and active. It's  amazing how when you speak things aloud, and present your request to God; how you start to feel moved and empowered, and how His answers to your requests begin coming into place. His answers or blessings may come right on time, or when you least expect it.

Today is Saturday, July 30, 2016, and today is the day I am marking the beginning of my Spirit Led journey. You see, when your earnestly pray to God, with a meaningful heart, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you; HE will.

I have been praying to God to guide me and be the lamp to my feet, because I find that moving on my own, gets me no where . On my own, I end up encountering the same dry experiences over and over, feeling frustrated, impatient, and stagnant.

These experiences are not fun . They may seem beautiful in the beginning, and the enemy will present them as if they are all you have hoped for; but please believe, without God's guidance, many life experiences are meaningless, and empty. You find yourself going the in the same circles over and over. And Once your stuck, it's not an easy process trying to come out .

Yesterday's experience for me was a Spirit Led Journey. I felt it when I woke up. I felt motivated, determined, adventurous;  different . I woke up at 8:00 am (on a Saturday morning), and although I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I wasn't really sure. An hour later I found myself riding my bike to the Dorchester Y, took a Zumba class, rode 4.4 miles to pick up lunch for my grandma in Hyde Park and visit her; visited a friend I hadn't saw in years, and then rode my bike 4.4 more miles back home .

" Woooh" seeing all that in perspective, really was shocking. But the strength that allowed me to do this was God's given strength.

I know just from reading, my 10-mile biking experience may seem like a small accomplishment, or may not be exciting for you, but for me this meant so much , because I had the ability  to challenge myself and push myself without giving up.  It really felt like everything .  I would encourage you all to seek this to experience for yourselves.

When you start to look for,  and acknowledge God through the little things that happen in your life; your eyes are opened to more and more. You began to appreciate life more, and experience the growth and maturity, God is developing in your life.

Motivation and better health are two of the things I've been consistently praying about, and I could already start to see God was doing a working in my life .  My Spirit Led journey of following his guidance was taking its course; and I felt empowered, and ready to tread my path .

Before my bike ride,  I admit I was doubtful and thought I wouldn't make it; but God got me to my destination, and  brought me back. He also made sure that I was happy, and encouraged me along the way .

Nothing is impossible with God. Present your requests to him, and let him guide you on your journey today .

Be Encouraged
